Keeping you up to date on parking improvements and changes...

  1. Feedback. UGA Parking Services’ teams and individuals have won 29 international, national, state, and UGA awards the last four years – including the International Parking Organization of the Year (or runner-up) three years running – a new feat in the parking industry. We have been recognized for accelerated improvement in customer service and have been featured for best business practices in many professional periodicals. We still have a long way to go to exceed your expectations. Help us help you – please give us your feedback. We consider your feedback to be the most important information in our organization. Please let us know when you have problems or concerns, or recommendations for improvement, or compliments, by using the feedback tab. We will respond to 100% of all e-mail inquiries.

  2. State-of-the-art lighting. Parking Services, in partnership with UGA Physical Plant, installed energy efficient, lighting (as one student describes this lighting, “Cool!”) in the South Deck and West Deck. This lighting is so advanced that when a bulb goes out; the light sends the maintenance technician an e-mail. We will install this lighting in the North Deck this summer. This lighting, commercially known as LimeLight is leading the parking industry in the development of green, smart technologies through wireless lighting control capabilities. The best-in-class LimeLight flourescent luminaire coupled with the LimeLight wireless commuications network has provided the following benefits:
    • Safety has been enhanced by turning a static, predictable garage into a dynamic environment for the parking patron
    • In some areas, twice the light output at half the energy consumption
    • Reduction of night time light pollution

  3. Construction Advisory. There are many campus construction projects impacting parking. Loss of space due to construction impacts not only the lots with construction, but creates a “domino effect” in other lots as people, with seniority under the parking priority system, are displaced from one lot and “bump out” others with less seniority in another lot. Parking Services is working closely with the Architect’s Office, various contractors, and Physical Plant to mitigate the impact of construction. We will make best efforts to grandfather customers into their desired lots.

  4. The Office of University Architects and/or Physical Plant anticipate these projects to be completed by the start of the Fall Semester: (N06) Visual Arts Renovation, (W02) Hull Street Realignment and Water Line Extension, (W03/W02) Special Collections Library landscaping and Green space project, (W11) Oglethorpe House Dining Hall Renovations and Bus Stop Relocation, (E10) University Health Center Med Clinic Renovations, (N05) Law School Phase II Renovations, (S05) Science Library Renovations, (S01) Sanford Stadium Scoreboard Upgrade and Stadium Waterproofing, (S23) Rodgers road Bldg Q Modernization, (W13) Central Utility Plant, (N07) Baldwin Hall to Park Hall Condensate line Replacement, (S01) Physics Auditorium Renovation and Seat Replacement, (S01) Physics Building Sanitary Sewer Replacement, (N09) Psychology Building sanitary Sewer Replacement, (N06) North Campus Parking Deck maintenance, (S12) Smith Street Reconstruction and Improvements, (S20) Family Housing Switchgear Replacement, and (W07) Creswell Hall Switchgear Replacement.

  5. The Office of University Architects and/or Physical Plant anticipates the following projects may impact parking during and after the Fall 2012 semester: (S03) New Rutherford Hall; (N09) Memorial Hall Restoration; (S24) Rodgers road Bldg R Modernization; (HSC) Health Sciences Campus.

  6. “Secret Shopper” program.
  7. As a further effort to improve our performance, we have instituted a “secret shopper” program to gain feedback from customers. If you are interested in becoming an “underground evaluator” of our services, please contact Gretchen at the parking office, 706-542-7275(PARK). Attractive incentives are offered to secret shoppers.

  8. Improving your lots/decks. In the summer of 2011, Parking Services created a comprehensive “self-help” housekeeping program. In fact, Parking employees completed more than 700 projects over the summer. These projects included painting, pressure washing, lot striping, new signage, window washing, mechanical repairs, and new curbing. The end result was much cleaner and esthetically pleasing parking decks and lots to enhance the customer parking experience. We intend to do massive housekeeping again this summer. If you see something that needs our attention, please let us know.

  9. Improving your lots/decks II. To improve appearance, to keep the decks safe, and to prolong the life of the decks, we contracted with the professional engineering firm of Tim Haahs to develop a 15 year comprehensive deck maintenance plan. To execute the first and second year of the plan, UGA Parking Services contracted with the firm of Suncoast Restorations and Waterproofing, LLC headquartered in Miramar Beach, Florida. The administration and execution of the 2011 maintenance plan was so successful that UGA won the commercial “Single Source Solutions Award” presented by the Georgia Construction Products, Inc. and the BASF Corporation. We are attempting to mitigate impact to your parking while performing maintenance and we appreciate your patience and flexibility. Next year, the Carlton Deck will receive most of our attention - please be aware that there may be slight parking inconvenience.

  10. Improving your lots/decks III. We have updated and improved many lots on campus this year to make parking more pleasurable for customers. Some of the safety updates include: Installing a crosswalk to the PAC building in E11, Striping the curbing along College Station road, Adding the Crosswalk in the Aderhold lot and working with the Physical Plant Department on the Aderhold crosswalks on East Green St, Adopting a Pay on Foot station with new stripes at the Dooley Garden plaza, Placing bollards and delineator posts around motorcycle and scooter parking in W10, E01, N09, and S14, and installing speed bumps at the South Deck. In addition, we are working to maintain our lots by: Leveling and adding gravel with car stops to W13 and N04, Seal coating and restriping N04, S07, W03 and E11, Restriping N01, W01, W14, as well as Disability and State Vehicle spaces throughout campus, and reinforcing fire lanes on the River Road Loop, PAC Deck, S14, S16, S17, N07, E09, E11, W03, W06, W07 and W12 Lots.

  11. Clean Air Campaign. The University of Georgia encourages and supports the use of alternative forms of transportation such as walking, bicycling, carpooling and use of public transit. In an effort to offer you more options and incentives, The University of Georgia partnered with The Clean Air Campaign to present you CASH incentives to encourage clean commuting and to offer a ride-matching service. As part of UGA’s Alternative Transportation Program, managed by UGA Parking Services, participants have a choice of either cash incentives through the Clean Air Campaign or free parking passes from UGA Parking Services.

  12. Motorist Assitance Program. We are happy to provide jump starts, give directions, locate a lost vehicle, or help in any way possible. We are sorry that we cannot help (liability reasons) with keys locked in vehicles.

  13. SuperPass (formerly known as AVI) SuperPass allows customers “hands free” entry and exit, and customers do not have to roll down their windows to be exposed to the elements to use hangtags. SuperPass also speeds entry and exit and is the “Green” alternative. Because of reduced vehicle idle time, SuperPass at UGA prevents 885 annual idle hours, or 18,000 pounds of Carbon produced, or the equivalent of driving 106,200 miles per annum (source: Transcore, Inc.). We are offering SuperPass technology in the Carlton, North, IM, and PAC decks as well as the E01 lot. We are also offering a choice of transferrable and non-transferable SuperPass devices in the decks.

  14. Expectant Mother Program. Mothers-to-be can join our new expectant mother program. This program is designed to assist expectant mothers with parking needs during their third trimester. Expectant mothers needing special parking accommodations during their pregnancy are encouraged to contact University Parking Services for assistance.

  15. Student Workers.
  16. We love our student workers! Parking Services will again be enlisting the help of students in the permit distribution and will-call processes. We will be looking for students that can work for approximately one month from mid-July to mid-August. We are also looking for students to work during the academic year and for football games. Interested students should apply on DawgLink or inquire within the Parking office beginning June 1st.

  17. Safe Drive.
  18. Parking Services realizes that many customers do not have the time or inclination to have their vehicles inspected. We are again offering SafeDrive – a highly popular program – to help customers get to their holiday destination safely. SafeDrive is a free car inspection for all UGA Faculty, Staff, and Students. Professional mechanics will top off fluids (if possible), check belts/blades, pressurize tires, and do a quick visual inspection of vehicles. This event will be held before classes are dismissed for the Thanksgiving holiday.

  19. Disability Registration.
  20. Good news for customers with disabilities! We have improved our registration processes. Customers with disabilities can now register for parking completely online by submitting their disability placard or license information via FAX, mail, or scanned image. Please follow the procedures under the My Parking Account tab
