What is the Campus Transit System and how do I use it?
Answer: The Campus Transit System is a unit of the Auxiliary
Services Department providing transportation services throughout the University
campus and is available to all. Bus and disabled transportation services are provided
on a no-fare basis. Get information at www.transit.uga.edu/.
I've heard I can ride the Athens Transit Bus for free with my UGA ID card, is this
true & if so, how is it possible.
Answer: Yes, any UGA student or employee can ride the
Athens Transit Bus for free with a valid UGA ID. This program is sponsored by the
University of Georgia Campus Transit & Parking Services Department. Routes and
schedules are available at www.athenstransit.com.
What is Park-N-Ride?
Answer: Park-N-Ride allows you to park your car off
campus without a permit, and ride a bus into campus.
Where is the Park-N-Ride located?
Answer: Super Wal-Mart: Lexington Rd, Piggly Wiggly:
North Avenue, Save-A-Lot on Milledge Avenue, Georgia Square Mall, Shops of South
Athens (Bi-Lo)
Do I need to register a bicycle?
Answer: No, Registration of bicycles is not required
with Parking Services as an alternate transportation method. However, cyclists are
encouraged to register their bikes with the University Police department in case
of loss or theft.
Where can I park my bike on campus?
Answer: There are bike racks located throughout the
campus for your use. Bicycles are prohibited from being chained to handrails and
should only be locked to bike racks.
What is the cost of a motorcycle, moped or scooter permit?
Answer: Motorcycle, moped and scooter permits costs
$10 per month and can be purchased through July. They can be purchased on a yearly
basis.
Where can I park my Motorcycle / Moped?
Answer: Motorcycles with a valid UGA permit may park
in any designated motorcycle space on campus. Mopeds and scooters with a valid UGA
permit will be allowed to park in designated “corrals” only.
Do I need to register a motorcycle, moped, or scooter with Parking Services?
Answer: Yes, you must register and a permit must be
obtained for any motorcycle or moped/scooter. A monthly prorated fee will be accessed
for both motorcycle and moped/scooter permits.
What is the Alternative Transportation Program (ATP)?
Answer: As a way to reduce the demand for parking on
campus, UGA Parking Services is offering parking incentives for those who choose
to ride The Bus, car pool, bike, walk or ride a motorcycle, scooter/moped as their
primary means of transportation. Parking Services will issue a number of passes
per year; depending on the method of transportation used, (distributed up to 2 per
month) for those days when their transportation needs are beyond their normal methods.
Who is eligible to use the Alternative Transportation Program (ATP)?
Answer: Any student or employee who lives off campus
and do not bring a standard vehicle to UGA. Additionally, anyone that drives a motorcycle,
moped, or scooter and registers with Parking Services are also eligible for ATP.
How often can I use my ATP pass?
Answer: Parking Services has approved the following
uses of ATP passes per method of alternative transportation per year (distributed
1 or 2 uses per month). Uses are non-cumulative.
- Biking, Busing, and Walking - up to 22 days of fee-free parking in designated locations
per year (distributed 2 uses per month).
- Car Pool - 11 days of fee-free parking in designated locations per year (distributed
1 use per month).
- Motorcycles, Moped/Scooters (as primary source) - up to 11 days of fee-free parking
in designated locations (distributed 1 use per month).
What is the Extreme Green Program?
Answer: The Extreme Green Program was created for registered
super low carbon emitter of the Alternative Transportation Program. This program
is for ATP users that have special needs throughout the year that would require
them to use their ATP passes successively for medical, personal, or special reasons
instead of the typical 1 or 2 uses per month (i.e., surgery, approved personal conditions).
Participants are required to fill out a form detailing your situation, sign and
returned to Parking Services. Parking Services will review all request and approve
them according to the rules governing the alternative transportation program. All
requests will receive personal attention and customized per recipient.
When can I use the Extreme Green Program?
Answer: The Extreme Green Program is available now for
any registered ATP user that require special consideration for usage of ATP passes.
Submit your Extreme Green form to Parking Services.
How long should I expect to wait to hear back from Parking Services on my Extreme
Green request?
Answer: All Extreme Green request will be answered within
(2) working days of receipt of request. Should additional information be required
from Parking Services, your reply may be slighted delayed in order to fairly evaluate
your request.
What are the designated parking areas for ATP?
Answer: (E05) East Village Parking Deck; (W05) Hull

What are the requirements for a car pool?
Answer: Carpools must have at least 2 participants,
including the primary driver to be considered for ATP registration.
How often must I register for the ATP program?
Answer: You must register every year for the ATP program.
Can anyone use my ATP pass?
Answer: No, ATP passes are for the registered individuals
within the program.
