Are citations written over intersession, holidays, weekends and nights?
Answer: Yes. Parking Services will follow an intersession
schedule when class is not in session and the campus is still open for business.
This information will be posted on the current announcements section on the right
side of our web site. A valid permit is required and must be displayed to park in
lots during hours of regulations.
Who issues parking citations?
Answer: Parking Services’ Enforcement Monitors
are responsible for patrolling parking areas, enforcing parking regulations, and
providing a hazard-free parking environment for our patrons.
How do I pay for a ticket?
Answer: All tickets issued to students will be charged
to the Student Account the next business day. All other tickets can be paid on the
Parking Services website at www.parking.uga.edu, in person at the Parking Services
Office, or via mail.
If I put a note on the window of my car telling you that I will only be in the building
for two minutes, will I get a ticket?
Answer: Yes. Monitors will not read any notes placed
in or on vehicles that are in violation of regulations, regardless of the timeframe
stated.
If I forget to display my permit, will I get a citation?
Answer: Possibly yes, a warning will be issued to valid
permit holders if there aren’t any prior violations of the same offense within
the current permit year. If a warning has been issued, you will be cited accordingly.
What could cause my car to be towed?
Answer: Vehicles parked in areas which create a safety
hazard, such as fire lanes or fire hydrant, disability parking spaces without proper
permits, designated Tow Away zones, reserved spaces, state vehicles spaces, obstructing
vehicle and pedestrian passage, red or yellow curbs and striped zones.
What could cause my car to be booted?
Answer: Accumulation of two or more outstanding citations
on a vehicle or any unidentified vehicle not registered with Parking Services.
What if my car is booted and I can't pay to have the boot removed until the next
day?
Answer: The car will be towed from the lot to the University
Impound Lot to better protect the immobilized vehicle, but your boot/tow charge
will remain $75.
I’ve had several citations this semester; will I get booted or towed immediately
if I get another citation?
Answer: Yes, Continued violations will result in an
immediate boot or tow and you may be classified as a Habitual Offender if you total
5 or more violations per school year.
My friend drove my car and received a ticket. Am I liable for that ticket?
Answer: Yes, Citations issued to a vehicle displaying
a permit will be the responsibility of the registered permit holder.
I parked in an empty lot and got a ticket. Why did I get a ticket?
Answer: The entrances of all lots have a posted sign
and legally display the lot number and permit required message. All permitted lots
are required to have a valid permit displayed in order to legally park there. It
also gives a contact phone number to Parking Services main office for further questions.
What do I do if I need to load/unload materials at a dorm, academic building, or
other facility?
Answer: Any valid UGA permit holder may call Parking
Services at (706-542-PARK) for a 30 minute approval to load and unload large items
that cannot be transported using campus transit.
I dropped off some items at work and put on my hazard lights. Why did I get a citation?
Answer: Parking in any illegal or unsafe manner at any
time is prohibited and may result in citations and/or impoundment.

What do I do if I left my permit in another vehicle?
Answer: Temporary permits are available to permit holders
who have left their regular permit at home. Two complimentary permits will be issued
with subsequent permits issued at a cost of $5 per day.
Can I get more than one ticket for parking over the time limit at a pay-per-use
lot?
Answer: Yes, Parking over the time limit is prohibited
and may result in additional citations and/or impoundment.
What happens if I don't pay my fines?
Answer: Students will have their OASIS account flagged
until payment is made. Employees’ fines will be deducted from payroll when
possible. Two or more unpaid citations will result in a boot or tow and may incur
additional charges.
What are the consequences if I should park in a reserve space?
Answer: Parking in any reserve space during the hours
of 7a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday is prohibited with the exception of Housing
lots which are enforced from 7 a.m. - 10 p.m. Monday through Friday. Parking in
reserve spaces may result in citations and/or impoundment.
What are the enforcement hours for permit only lots?
Answer: Generally, enforcement hours are Monday through
Friday from 7a.m - 5p.m. Housing Lots are restricted from 7 a.m.-10p.m. Monday through

What are some ways to keep from getting parking citations?
Answer: They include but are not limited to:
- Never allow anyone else to use your permit when you are not on campus.
- Adhere to all rules and regulations.
